The Department of Veterans Affairs, West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, with Cornerstone Mechanical Inc.for turnkey installation of a specialized, insulated liquid nitrogen piping distribution system. The contractor will provide all labor, materials, equipment, and supervision to supply and install new 1/2-inch Type L copper LN2 piping, Unistrut supports, 2-inch fiberglass insulation with protective metal jacket, stainless steel ball valves, and cryogenic hose assemblies to connect VA-furnished liquid nitrogen tanks to seven research freezers. The piping system is essential for providing backup cryogenic protection for Veteran biospecimens in support of critical research storage. Market research was not able to identify any other sources in the L.A. area who can perform the turnkey services and combatibility with existing equipment. This is a notice of intent and is not a request for competitive quotes; however, any responsible source who can provide the fulfill the exact equipment specifications, can provide information no later than August 17th , 7AM, EST. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
